Its probably true. Most MMO games consist of constant mining, killing countless weaker NPC's or doing some bull♥♥♥♥ quests just for XP. This can be fun... untill you have done it non-stop for like 5 days and finaly gotten to level 6. OMG LVL6 (then somone from lvl100 kills you in a hit).
You might find this fun, but to me it seems like more of a job.

Since you're on the CC forums, I assume you would like this:
EVE Online: Quite possibly the best MMO I've ever played. It's a space action shoot-em-up adventure that is really quite indescribable unless you play it. There's a 14-day free trial on the website somewhere, I strongly recommend it.

Happy MMOing!

Totally free game with what is probably the most... *cough* efficient use of graphics I've ever seen. Funniest game ever. Though it's not exactly "wander around randomly glitching into other characters" (good luck even wandering around), it still has a lively chat function protected by the ghost of the English language. The game itself has tons of depth.

Get off your lazy (butt) and go to the store.. Buy guild wars, no PPM (pay per month) and it is quite fun. Or maybe CS:S and GMod 10.0.

I hate standard MMO's, so here are a couple Unique ones that I kinda play.
Mabinogi -kr test server http://fgames.4.forumer.com/index.php?showforum=2
Tibia - pvp servers arn't bad and it's a good time waster I guess

Navy field- pretty Ok.
Faces Of war- Sequal to Soldiers heroes of World War 2 which is the greatest pc game ever once properly modded. same will apply for Faces of war in about a year. not an mmo but def worth getting.
There are a couple other I can't remember right now
