Re: Dark Souls
Hey, sorry for bumping an old topic, but I had a question regarding PC controls for Dark Souls.
I've been wanting to buy the Prepare to Die version on Steam, but I've heard that the controls with a keyboard + mouse are absolutely atrocious, and that gamepads are practically necessary to have an enjoyable experience.
If anyone's actually attempted to play the game with a standard PC setup, I'd appreciate some input as to its playability. Thanks!

Re: Dark Souls
Its very playable. Id recommend installing both DSFix and the Mouse fix along with it though.

Re: Dark Souls
I've heard of dsfix, but what does it actually do? From what I gather it enables higher resolution than what the game is locked at, as well as enabling the ability to remove fps restriction?

Re: Dark Souls
Basically.
It also adds other options and elements like HUD tweaking, AA options, fixes a lot of rendering and shader problems, allows for texture dumps and autosaves/backups.
All it does is just make it a proper port with a few extra things here and there.

Re: Dark Souls
I am so hype. I only recently start playing Dark Souls because I learned about DSFix. I just got to Anor Londo. It's fun as hell. I streamed it, too, which is pretty fun in itself.

Re: Dark Souls
I'm more hype than I have been for any other game. I'm also trying to keep myself in the dark about mostly everything, so as to not ruin anything about the game.

Same, after my initial concerns about it being dumbed-down were soothed, I went on blackout mode and haven't read or seen anything about it.

Re: Dark Souls
As far as I can tell, it's okay. I think I have my mic working now, so there's that. I asked for feedback and they said that the FPS and quality is fine. I suck at the game, but that's part of the fun. It's also my first playthrough so I don't know ♥♥♥♥ about the game. Here's the link, I'll be streaming sometime tomorrow. It's my first time in Anor Londo.

Re: Dark Souls
There's been a decent amount of info released that gets up some hype.
Dual wielding will be more responsive and will now have actual moves relating to dual wields. There's now thrown weapons (ex. spears, axes, etc. but is tentative from what I hear). You can now move while firing a bow (I assume only some bows though). Huge graphical improvement. The game looks even better now, which gets me really excited because they did an incredible job with the dark fantasy setting and world design, like Anor londo or The Duke's Archives or even Boletaria in Demon's Souls.
And most of all, the game will be even harder.
