Im curious though, why did Gotcha! discontinue all of his projects? Ive not really been looking at this forum for some time and I would like to know.

I have a strange problem, for SOME reason, Unitech.rte will load AFTER Unitech_Shield.rte and United_Zealot.rte, WHAT could cause this? Like possibly?
I get this problem and I'm not sure why.

I've been playing beta 26 using this mod and the map pack instead of 1.05 since the beginning of the year.

I should clarify here. I'm using the beta 26 mods as well. Essentially, every time Cortex Command updated, I left my old installations in place if I did any sizable mods to it. I started doing this when beta 27 was rendered nearly unplayable, so I kept the beta 26 install. I think I have pretty much every install from beta 23 on, but not all the various version-specific mods. I wonder if Gotcha! has beta specific versions of his mods available somewhere? An actual archive of old versions of the popular mods might be a good idea. I specifically love the Map Pack 3 combined with this mod. The re-playability is strong, and I don't mind sacrificing Campaign mode and Techion faction to go back to that. If nothing comes of it, I'll see if I can upload those two mods somewhere. For the record, I've been playing "Unitec's Finest" on Nuts with the Gryphon map using only default Unitec Brain "Jack" as a One-Man Army type scenario. No additional support, and he has to scavenge any weapons. Now -there- is some fun. I think I read Gotcha considers the beta 26 builds the highpoint of Unitec's Cortex Command. I can see why.

I plan to use the GrenadeBelt.lua script for a personal use. One thing I would like to add is a delay time on how long it takes for another grenade to be added to your inventory once one is thrown. It's for personal balancing reasons. I'm curious how I would do that.

I seem to be having problems with weegee's 1.05 fix for Unitec. I keep getting this message when I try to load a map: --------------------------- RTE Aborted! (x_x) --------------------------- Failed to create terrain's background layer's bitmap!
The last frame has been dumped to 'abortscreen.bmp'
You can copy this message with Ctrl+C --------------------------- OK ---------------------------
I get this regardless of the map or activity. This problem only occurred after I extracted Unitec and it goes away when I delete its .rte folders. Any idea what might be causing this?
Edit: Disregard this post. I talked to weegee through PM and it seems the problems were do to CC using too much memory, not anything to do with the mod. I deleted a few things and now everything works fine.

Well, look what the cat dragged in. Something much older than before, that's for sure. Hi to those still around. I recently ran into a Cortex Command video and wondered what ever came to be of the game. Amazingly, it seems weegee kept my stuff up to date in the Steam Workshop. I wanted to give you a big thanks for that through this post. I've been enjoying my old toys and have been tinkering with it as well, to fix some things and for old times sake funsies. Not sure who's still around and who isn't, but I hope everyone's doing well!

A chunk of DRL people regularly chat on an irc channel, and there's also a discord with a different chunk of people working on a CC project to finish the game as they envisioned it, since CC's gone open source.

Would you mind sharing those channels? I played CC a ton in my early teens and I just randomly remembered it. Some time has passed and I now have a degree in computer science and some experience with game dev using C++. It sounds like it could be a lot fun to contribute to something I have such fond memories of all these years later. Semi-related, I still think a lot about a faction mod that I put tens of hours into but never posted here that was lost forever when my parents threw out the laptop that I used in middle school. Sad to think that I can't look at my first ever coding project from a decade ago.
