They have the whole walking, jumping and swimming animations as poses, so yes.
Although I didn't put it together, somebody on the /vg/ thread did it for me.

I think they said you could mod.
Open beta will probably be in the summer. (just a guess)

Also, if i was a really rich ♥♥♥♥, i'd have bought Solarium tier and designed a completely ridiculous gun (laser beaver cannon?). But since that's not a possibility, i'll just settle for hoping that modding is relatively accessible (and preferrably in a language like Lua or Java). But even if not, i'm so very likely to enjoy the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game, because i've already spent at least 150 hours in Terraria. Given how Starbound seems like Terraria^2 IN SPACE... Yes. If nothing else, i'll have a good feeling about supporting indie devs, hee hee. (TRIPLE A DEVS? NO NEVER HEARD OF THEM THEY LIVE ON GOLD BEDS CLEARLY)
