Yo guys, I realize it's been about two weeks since I was supposed to roll, so: -Man school sure is fun when I have to write several thousand words of work a night -Midterms are just the utter tits when they count for 25% of your grade -Nothing better than waking up at 6 in the morning and getting back home at 8 PM all ready to do work until 2 AM

Welcome to Fort Steelbreak. The massive gates groan as equally massive engines pull them apart, allowing Jet and Klish to step through. The outside of the fort may have been intimidating, but stepping inside is like going out of the frying pan and into the fire- most of the space inside is taken up by rows of mortar pits, missile silos, and railguns, both designed to defend the outside and against any aerial attack. The building taking up most of the complex is a three-tiered titanium bunker, with each tier being slightly smaller than the last. Lined with blast doors and automated anti-personnel weapons, the building is yet another testament to the ISC's might. A short distance away from the main building is a pair of blast doors that shields the hanger containing the fort's air- and space-craft. Jet and Klish walk towards the main building, and as they get within twenty feet of the main blast entrance, the gate slides open and two men, flanked by four other soldiers, come out. The man in the center has greying hair and scars of battle etched on his face, attesting to his age and experience- clearly a veteran of the wars fought during the ISC's vicious expansion. The three-starred insignia on his combat armor marks him as a lieutenant general. Jet and Klish snap to attention, Klish doing so rather awkwardly. "At ease, men. My name is Lieutenant General Greaves, and I'm in charge here. That's pretty much all you need to know about me. So, you two are here for the Ether Attack Unit we're training, is that right?" Let's see, what'd you like, a sword-type of weapon I assume? Maybe something a little rippy, like a serrated blade, with a spiked trench knife handle- oh, I've got just the design for you!..."
After roughly an hour of selecting metal samples and a few more hours of smelting and welding, Mike manages to fashion a rather gruesome (Roll + Improvise = 11) sword, as well as an over-the-shoulder sheathe to go along with it. The blade is roughly two feet long, made from a mix of carbon steel and black titanium with the end result being a slightly curved, hefty, serrated blade, the design basically an upscaled version of Mike's Combat Knife. The hilt of the sword has a handguard with knuckle-holes and infinitely sharp spikes, like miniature spears, facing towards the same side as the edge of the blade. "Now that is a hell of a sword, young man," Scrappy remarks, tired but excited, passion burning in his eyes. "This is what makes my job so dang enjoyable, seeing refuse turned into something useful! Try that thing out." Mike grips it in his right hand and marvels at how natural it feels. While the sword is somewhat short, it is three times the length of his combat knife and has a hell of a lot of weight to it, but in all the right places- enough so that a solid swing from Mike would carry enough momentum to cut a man in half, but not so much that he can't comfortably wield it in one hand or quickly slash and parry with it. The dark blue-violet-grey-black shades of the blade, smoothly blending into one another as if the blade had been treated with iridescent paint, lend the weapon a unique appearance that somehow seems to add to Mike's natural familiarity with the blade. "Yeah, this is pretty much perfect," he says, looking at it with pride. "So! What're you gonna call it?" "Huh?" "Well, somethin' personal like that, ya gotta give it a name, right? How 'bout like, Shadow Edge, cause of the colors? Assuming the worst, Jotun sprints forward and turns toward the room outside of which the hexapod drone is laying, preparing to dodge an attack- but none comes. Inside, he sees the rest of his drones, perfectly fine, and he steps inside. The drones instantly reconnect with Jotun and he recognizes the room as the station's communications center, which is shielded with EM wave blockers and dedicated signal lines. He looks back at the ruined drone outside of the door and realizes that it is old and decrepit, likely a relic since before he lost consciousness. ============================================= Appearance: Droid with an AMEC Corporate Security Frame [Designation 3-5-Maintenance] Has a strangely unique "face" via a digital communications screen; does not seem capable of electronic contact. Welcome to Fort Steelbreak. The massive gates groan as equally massive engines pull them apart, allowing Jet and Klish to step through. The outside of the fort may have been intimidating, but stepping inside is like going out of the frying pan and into the fire- most of the space inside is taken up by rows of mortar pits, missile silos, and railguns, both designed to defend the outside and against any aerial attack. The building taking up most of the complex is a three-tiered titanium bunker, with each tier being slightly smaller than the last. Lined with blast doors and automated anti-personnel weapons, the building is yet another testament to the ISC's might. A short distance away from the main building is a pair of blast doors that shields the hanger containing the fort's air- and space-craft. Jet and Klish walk towards the main building, and as they get within twenty feet of the main blast entrance, the gate slides open and two men, flanked by four other soldiers, come out. The man in the center has greying hair and scars of battle etched on his face, attesting to his age and experience- clearly a veteran of the wars fought during the ISC's vicious expansion. The three-starred insignia on his combat armor marks him as a lieutenant general. Jet and Klish snap to attention, Klish doing so rather awkwardly. "At ease, men. My name is Lieutenant General Greaves, and I'm in charge here. That's pretty much all you need to know about me. So, you two are here for the Ether Attack Unit we're training, is that right?" "Yes, sir," Jet affirms while Klish merely nods. "Good. In that case, I'll turn you over to Colonel Solf here and be on my way," he says, gesturing at the man next to him and walking back into the building. The remaining man is noticeably younger- particularly for his ranking- but has eyes of flashing steel and an air of radiant power. His combat armor is marked with an eagle insignia. "Evening, men. Sorry to disappoint, but you're a little late to do much training right now. We'll go to the target range and I'll see just what you can do with ether- if I think you're good enough, you're in, simple as that. Let's go." Solf turns on his heel and walks through the entrance with Jet, Klish, and the four guardsmen in tow. The inside of the fort is about as impressive as the outside in its own way, demonstrating the technological capabilities of the Coalition with its complex security and defense systems. Within a minute, Jet and Klish find themselves at the target range, and Colonel Solf is programming the desired target routine into the range's automated management system. "Alright boys, you're going to run through a target gauntlet that'll test the strength and versatility of your ether. You'll go up against organic-type targets first- one up close, one far away, one clustered group at medium range, one linear group. Next, same setups, but with armored targets. I'll demonstrate a run for you." Solf hits a button to initiate the target range routine, and an alarm goes off as an electronic voice says Weapons free, range is hot. A ballistic gel dummy pops up 5 meters away from the counter, and Solf boils it to an unrecognizable mess with a flamethrower-like ether attack. A second target pops up at the back of the range 50 meters away, and a small fireball from Solf takes its head off. A group of five dummies pops up in a star formation at 20 to 25 meters, and a massive fireball leaves them scorched beyond recognition. Finally, a line of dummies pop up in five meter intervals from 15 to 35 meters- a laser-like stream of flame cuts through them all. "And next up, the armored ones." As the armored targets pop up, Solf switches from flame to lightning ether, frying the fleshy dummies inside the conductive armors with devastating effect. "Now, your turn. He finds a few promising intraplanetary contracts on Mars and decides to check them out before returning to Earth. He then considers getting into the stock market- a venture that he reckons he could pull off successfully, but which would require all of his dedication. Maybe once I get a decent bit of capital to invest with. Bob's reverie is broken by his ship notifying him of its imminent entrance into Mars' atmosphere. Within an hour, he is at the town and emptying his ship's overpacked cargo bay. Within minutes the funds process through on his UNADA- 2500 credits. UPDATE MY INVENTORY DAMN IT. I suppose that'll be me. Use Vapor Lance for the first, Torrent Cutter for the second, third, and fourth groups. Aim for head level with Cutter. Switch to using Deep Blue as an aiming mechanism for the armored group.

Enter/break into the communications station. Check for radio chatter in-system, while also using whatever scanning equipment is available to look for anomalies nearby.
