Post Re: Legends of the Sky
SCHOOL IS FUN~

Ragdollmaster (Troy) [2]:
"Oy! The ♥♥♥♥ are you two idiots doing?!"
"OI LANGUAGE! For ♥♥♥♥'s sake we have a fairy here!"
"It's called practice, Troy. It makes perfect. Unless you'd like me to be horribly dismembered by a flying squid or something?"
"You're not going to get any better at fighting flying squids by drunkenly smashing your sword against his and pushing him back. Why don't you 'practice' by slashing at the air near the railings of the ship, since that's where a squid would show up? If you've forgotten, we don't have any medics on board, so if you end up cutting off his arm or something, he'll probably bleed out before we can reach the nearest port. I'd rather not lose 20% of my crew in one go- well, I guess it'd really be 40%, because I'd probably brutally murder you for wasting my time. Now then, ADVENTURE, AHOY!"
"I'm barely even drunk. Stop being a party pooper Troy."
"BOY, KEEP UP THE BACK-FLAPPING AND I'LL KEELHAUL YA. I SAID ADVENTURE~"

You've got half a mind to throw him overboard for a few seconds before you summon him. That'd teach him.
REGARDLESS. Westward ho!
It takes a while to maneuver safely around the island, so you don't make very much actual westward progress yet.

Character

Miggles (Robert Wright) [10]:
With book in hand, you head back down to the engine room, past your idiot crewmates fighting, and sit down proper to study it.
For a bit, you try to just work out what the engine does by using the book as a reference, but with so many runes and internal parts that quickly fails. Instead, you try reading through the book properly. It... isn't much better. But you do manage to glean a bit of knowledge from it. With that, you go back and examine the engine, then with insight from that read through a section of the book, understanding it better. Slowly, you go back and forth between the two, bit by bit building up an understanding of the complex machine.
It looks like the Crystal naturally gathers and stores energy from the atmosphere, and the machines are designed to vacuum the energy out, but not completely. If the machine were to fully cover the crystal in an energy vacuum, it'd run out of power quickly, so it cycles sections open so that more energy can flow in while some is being drained.
Oddly, the book seems to be measuring everything in very small units of length, and you surmise that these engines are generally meant for much smaller crystals. With a crystal that has as much surface area as this, the cycling problem should be significantly easier to address.

Well. You still aren't fully sure of how it works, but you understand enough that, with the book, you can repair it. Awesome.

Character

Fail Flail (Grif Mason) [2+1=3]:
"OI LANGUAGE! For ♥♥♥♥'s sake we have a fairy here!"
"..."

You'd like to step in and stop the others, but they have weapons and weapons are scary and oh dear oh dear oh dear. Plus your Rapier isn't really up to snuff against their weapons, you must say...

Character

Izen (Sedraxis) [2]:
You quickly sweep your leg to knock James down, but he nimbly hops over your sweep, the counters with the exact same move, depositing YOU upon your ass.
You then look up, and find a sword next to your neck.
"Checkmate!"
"...Damn."

He then holds out a hand to you. You've not really any pride left to swallow at the moment, so you accept his help back to your feet.

Character

Maart3n (Mareikura) [6]:
You watch James and Sed spar, but a better word for it would be whup. This is completely one sided here. James beats Sed so soundly that there wasn't much you could learn besides Sed is bad with his spear.
Well, you're not much a melee guy anyway you suppose.

Character

Tomaster (James Tiber) [10]:
It takes little more to push Sedraxis to defeat, including a rather dashing counterattack on his attempt to knock you down. After smirking a bit from your flashy victory, you sheathe your sword, and offer him a hand back to his feet. Begrudgingly, he accepts it.
Hey, you might be a bit full of yourself, but that doesn't mean you aren't a good sport.

Character

Game Events: James and Sedraxis finish their "duel", while the Sylph goes west a bit.
Suddenly, from the front of the deck comes a loud thud as something drops from above onto the ship at high speed. Whatever it is, it's behind a small stack of empty boxes lying on deck.

Check out what fell on the ship. I'm useless anyway with the dark burn.

LET THE DASHING SWORDSMAN TAKE CARE OF THINGS.
Vault on top of the boxes and investigate. Make sure to keep the high ground.

GENTLY DOWN THE JIGGLY NEW AVATAR

Ragdollmaster (Troy) [1]:
"Why do I get the feeling that this will somehow piss me off?"
"DIBS."

James jumps onto the boxes energetically, then stops once he sees what landed, and you walk around it calmly but with your hand ready on Swordbro.
"..."
"Dibs eh? Well hey man, whatever floats your boat."

He flips you off.
"Oh you must be shitting me."
"I wish."

Character

Miggles (Robert Wright) [6]:
Investigate what? The engine? You were already doing that.
Nothing's going on right now far as you can tell. Of course that might just mean everyone up top is DEAD, but well at least then you'd get some quiet.

Character

Fail Flail (Grif Mason) [5+1=6]:
You stay right where you are with Sedraxis, thank you very much. Last time something came on your ship it tried to eat you all. Not THIS time.
"I'mma go see what it is."
"Get back if it's dangerous."

Charlotte flits over, looks behind the crates, and hovers there for a bit before coming back over to you.
"Umm..."
"What is it?"
"Not dangerous. At all."

...Ok NOW you're curious.

Character

Izen (Sedraxis) [2]:
You stay right where you are. If it comes to it, you can fight it just fine from here, away from any teeth and fangs.
"Grumble mumble. If you guys die, it's not my fault."
Seems everyone is too busy seeing what the mystery thing is to hear you.

Character

Maart3n (Mareikura) [3]:
Since you've got nothing better to do, you head over to the fallen object with Troy, while James bounds ahead on top of some boxes.
...
"Oh you must be shitting me."
"I wish."

Character

Tomaster (James Tiber) [1]:
"Why do I get the feeling that this will somehow piss me off?"
"DIBS."

You pretty much leap the distance to the boxes, then climb them with a bit of fleet footwork. From your high and mighty vantage, you look down at the new cargo lying on your deck. What you see leaves you at a loss for words.
"..."
"Dibs eh? Well hey man, whatever floats your boat."

Troy earns himself a 1 finger salute.

Character

Game Events: The thing that fell down onto the deck, lying in front of Troy, James, and Mare, is a little girl. She doesn't even look old enough to have hit puberty yet, with a thin frame and young, rounded face. Medium length shining golden-brown hair falls down to the bottom of her head or so, and she's wearing a white dress that looks just a bit purple in the light.
Despite hitting the deck at a rather significant speed, even leaving a few boards damaged, she appears uninjured. No blood, no wounds on her, she didn't even wake up from sleeping.
"So James. I know you love all women and all, but..."
"UP YOURS TROY."

Suddenly, Troy, James, and Mare all tense up. All three break out in a cold sweat, and are paralyzed by a crippling sense of fear and dread. Then, as soon as it arrived, the sensation is gone.
And with that, the little girl stirs.
"Mmm... H... Huh...?"

I have 9 others to choose from, too. Most aren't as nice resolutions though.

Ooooh, mauve text, hopefully a nice character. Now lets see if I can create a mini party of a fairy and little girl within the party.

"Alright you lot, step back and give her some space! Except you magey bloke, she might be injured, and Charlotte come over here because... uhh, because fairy."

>Check on girl

"Easy there, don't move too much, does anywhere hurt?"

I hope you didn't drop hints for me, because I'll feel bad if I missed them.
Also, the avatar is mesmerizing.
