Thanks for the encouraging support! Right now we're finally getting close to having a working build of DIRT running on Allegro instead of the crappy foundation we had before.

Since Allegro has linux implementations, we do intend to eventually try to get the project to run on GP2X as well. This won't happen until we get the game itself more solid as a windows version first, though.

However, if there's enough interest to port to GP2x asap, we could try to set up a paypal donor button and hire someone competent (like http://www.icculus.org) to do it for us...

I'll think about it.

Can you give some more specific reasons why SDL would have been the better route? We looked at both libraries briefly, but decided to go with Allegro because it seemed to handle the 8bit modes more natively and better while SDL seems to emulate it..

If we would have to port to SDL as well, it wouldn't take nearly as long since we've abstracted out a lot of the code interfacing with tht graphics etc... so it can be done if necessary.

Please let us know your thoughts on that

darokin is talking out of his ass.

I've personally done many ports of games using either allegro or SDL. Both are very easy to port with if you know what you are doing.

Just choose the one you like best and do it.

No, CDX.. it's a directx wrapper. It did a decent job for what I originally wanted, but it doesn't compare to Allegro or SDL.

There is no way those physics would work on that machine!

But this on that? No way...
