Plz make a proper section for MODS for the official release
Hi all i dont really know where to post this .. I'e just buyed this game some days ago and as i understand this game really rocks with all thoses mods the community has done but now , as the game became relased , i think the mods forums for the beta are just really difficult to use because of all the version you can find there so , admins could you create 2 proper forum sections for the mods (mods and scene) that we can use for the official release ? I think it will help greatly peoples that aren't used to mods and it will clarify the mod sections thank you ps: sorry for my bad english

In general, unless things change a LOT between versions, mods can be used in the new version. I'm pretty sure that applies here, since I myself have used a couple several year old mods on 1.0 and it worked perfectly fine.

We already have "Mod Releases" and "Scene Releases". Aren't those basically what you were looking for? Most of the mods in the first 3-4 pages of mod releases and 2-3 of scene releases should be compatible with RC1 with very minor or no tinkering. I Don't quite see how that is confusing.

If you look at the icon on the left and it's not 1.0, then your mileage may vary as far as functionality. Other mods may work, but it's not as certain.

It's mostly Lua that has malfunctioned and some other changed features that will break mods nowadays.
Most B23 mods still work actually.

Most B23 mods still work actually. One occasionally has to re-arrange the sounds if vanilla one are used, but that's pretty much it.

Yeah we did that change around B25 iirc, one uniform resource location for each .rte instead of sounds being scattered all over.

A forum really isn't the ideal way to organise mods though. It works for now, I guess. Something like xenolith is better, especially if blessed with official status by devs.

Re: Plz make a proper section for MODS for the official release
We tried having a Mod Database at one time. As you can see, it didn't amount to much. Honestly, the forum works fine for us, and there's so much invested into it that it'd be a real pain to change. Things will probably be different when the Steam Workshop integration finally gets finished, but until then it doesn't make sense to switch to another system, ESPECIALLY if we're getting another system implemented soon anyway.

I use both Xenolith, the forums and I will probably also use steam workshop. I don't see why you can't use all three. Sure it might be a bit of a hassle to update all three. But honestly, you can mostly copy and paste between all three release mediums so it isn't that bad. Unless you're on dial up or something.

If you bought the game outside of Steam, you can activate it in Steam with a key it gives you.

Re: Plz make a proper section for MODS for the official release
there is no steam workshop now for Cortex command
Someone knows if the game is really going to be on steam workshop ? if not i think we dont need to loose time for it and use xenolith to publish and the forums we have to communicate ?

I'd say use the forums and whoever wants to do so use xenolith, until eventual workshop support.

Re: Plz make a proper section for MODS for the official release
The thing I'd like to request is some kind of way to sort by these version tags. You can always just browse the standard list of mods but a lot of people are also posting in old threads asking for support etc. and it can seem to be a little bit fragmented. My thoughts, anyway. Thanks!
