What he said, that is quite the feat. I always get to the boss and then die. This time it was even my own fault for not teleporting into it's rocket launcher before it was too late.
I must say though, the rock ship is really powerful, but you need to get some engi crew, with a few zoltans mixed in for power and a single mantis for boarding.

total accomplishments:

got to stage six with kestrel

got engi ship

got its alternate configuration (engi ship is the easiest to get achievements on anyway)

nothing else occurred because i'm bad@games

I managed to get all the achievements for the Kestrel and Torus, along with some other achievements, but I can't seem to unlock anything else. I can't manage to beat the final boss.

Oh, and the second layout for the Torus sucks, but the Kestrel's second layout is pretty fun.

Oh you get the crystal guys from stasis pods? I got a ship with a stasis pod but I just took the (:U) weapon. Are they worth it?

Its a free crew member if you get the right events.
You have to find a research thing, then ask them if they know anything about the stasis chamber with the blue option.
After that you get a crew member with these stats
20% less movespeed
50% less damage from oxygen less
25% more hp
Lockdown - Can completely lock any room he is in with a charged skill.

You can then bring the crystal guy to a rockmen homeworld to get a new ship.
