IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS GAME IS, YOU WILL VERY SOON.


POST IF YOU WANT TO ADOPT A SOLDIER. AFTER YOU ADOPT HIM YOU CAN NAME HIM, PREFERABLY AFTER YOURSELF BECAUSE YOU'RE A NARCISSISTIC BASTARD. IF YOU WANT YOU CAN ALSO SPECIFY WHAT KIND OF WEAPON YOU WANT YOUR SOLDIER TO USE. BASICALLY YOUR OPTIONS ARE AUTOCANNON OR SOME KIND OF RIFLE, BUT IF YOU REALLY WANT TO USE SOMETHING ELSE I'LL THINK ABOUT IT.

YOU CAN REAPPLY IF YOUR SOLDIER DIES.

WE WILL SEND YOU LETTERS AND PHOTOS FROM YOUR ADOPTED SOLDIERS TO LET YOU KNOW HOW MUCH YOUR DONATION HELPS THEM, AND TO LET YOU KNOW HOW THEY'RE DOING.

Okay, let's just get this party started already. For those who want to know, I'm using version 1.2 of the original X-COM for DOS. Sound effects are a good thing to have, and you don't get them in the silly 1.4 version.

Adopt me, I have a feeling I'll die quickly, that's how this game works.

Also: U.S. is a good starting point because they give the most funds, Europe is the best second choice.

Don't give him any good guns, or none at all, I don't know how this game works. Preferably one.
Make him rush into battle and die horribly.

Also go to Canada and drink maple syrup out of a hockey playing bacon beaver's ass.

Those Stun Rods will definitely come in handy later too - and the Proximity Grenades can sit around at the base in case of an emergency.

FinDude gets to be only brave heavy unit I have - I won't be putting up units with Ws in their name up for adoption as it's second nature for me to kill them if I get the chance.
That is, unless somebody wants to be expendable? Pffft, yeah right.

I wouldn't mind being fodder if I always get replaced :P, just FYI. Another thing, people usually go with one of each craft at the beginning, selling one hanger immediately. I could see the way you're doing it working if you built another hanger, or do you plan on selling a interceptor?

You only get billed for the Interceptor at the end of the month, and the aliens aren't aggressive for the first month. So, why not keep it until it becomes a liability?

Rest assured, I'll be selling it before the month is done.
