I love the models, but absolutely dislike resin and their damned prices. I mean, we're not buying silver statues, they're just little resin things.

-edit-
And since we were on about lego. This is pretty damn interesting.

The Space Marines are getting too much love; look those figures! That grecorroman style fits them greatly.

And legos have to be the best invention in the history of humanity.

Space marines can get away with pretty much anything these days.

Mk3 helmet! Classy. If somewhat comical at the same time.

Also, for the Dark Heresy/Deathwatch/Black Crusade fans out there, FFG recently announced Only War, a standalone addition to the 40kRPG series that focuses on the Imperial Guard.

I think we should have a WH40K RtD in the forum.

That possibly couldn't go well. I mean, just imagine a TH/SS terminator rolling a one against a gretchin in close combat.

@Arcalane
If I had the money you can bet your ass I'd make an army solely with mk3 marines. But 25£ for five models? I mean, seriously.

Well, let's imagine than somehow, a gretchin managed to stick a knife deep into the eye of the helmet of the termie reaching and destroying it's brain.

I mean, it could happen!

That helmet looks really nice with the rest of the model. With the shield and hammer, it makes him look like a medieval knight :D

Yeah, if I were running such a thing I'd probably stick to RtD-style actions/play, but use the Dark Heresy/etc. systems for stats and rolling.

It's either that or I'd the system I use for my current Sort-of-RtD with a shitton of situational modifiers for species/class/weapon/armour/equipment/etc. etc. which would just get messy as all hell.

Or you could just make the RtD based off the Eisenhorn series or the Ravenor one, even the Gaunt's Ghosts series.

That sounds like you want to begin the RtD.

Now, on an unrelated note, I'm changing my mind and thinking of getting Tau.

Opinions?

Great choice, while they tend to be a bit of a glass cannon, they really reward a player for thinking and planning.
If you are going to pick them, you should be able to plan, be able to think ahead and make correct assumptions on your oppositions moves. Sounds a lot harder than it is, and as I said, owning a Tau army can be very rewarding.

I don't know, I remember that when I played Dark Crusade, for me it was the easiest faction to make tactics rather than mass assaults.

Like, having a squad or two of Fire Warriors behind, move some Pathfinders/Stealth Suits to reveal some fog of war and use the huge range of the Fire Warriors to shoot them, or doing the same but using Kroots as a bait to stop large assaults.

And, I've got a doubt. A friend of mine told me that the Tau could use the Imperial Guardsmen models as a troop, which were something like humans who decided to join the Tau. Is it true?

Uh, yes and no.
Depending on the leniency of the GM or whoever is organizing the game, in most cases (Eg, your local GWS) it would be allowed, but don't go into any world tournaments and expect them to allow them without a second thought. Also I wouldn't expect anyone to allow a large portion of your army to be guard, or any tanks and the like.
One important thing to keep in mind with any army is the fact you can't 'reinforce' squads, anything that dies stays dead (except for Necrons, who are totally OP (They're also a noob army, easiest to paint, easiest to win, but no finesse)).

I hate Necrons. If they revive in game 99% of the times just like in Dark Crusade I'll hate them for life.

Anyway so, I'll try to begin a Tau army as soon as possible. Though I don't think I'll get the Tau Battleforce, since it's quite expensive.

I think I'll begin with a squad of Fire Warriors.
