To be completely honest, the exploding knife is a lot more believable than a goddamn ELECTRIC SWORD. Strap a piece of tnt on a knife, light tnt, throw knife, ♥♥♥♥ explodes.

I dunno, it was a C4 knife, so I don't know where they're getting high-grade plastic explosives. Whereas I guess you could take a car battery and hook it up to a machete (as done in-game), and...uh, I dunno, maybe it'll zap stuff?

Machete with a live wire up one side, and the rest of the circuit down the other side, both insulated against the blade.
On contact with the wire, when embedded into the body, complete circuit via flesh and blood.
Electric blade.
Like a large contact taser.

The C4 knife I felt was unbelievable due to the fact that you can't see it being ignited, and it just explodes randomly. No trigger, no fuse.

However, the electricity arcing on the blade, and enemies arcing after an attacking is silly.

Ociamarru, I'd say having the character have horrible accuracy from the hip originally, and not aiming down the sights correctly for the first few shots. After a few shots down the sights, the character auto-corrects their aiming down the iron sights, and you can fire correctly.
Also, for the first shot with a few guns, the recoil is enough to blow your aim completely off, or to make you drop the weapon.

At first I read that as 'blow your arm completely off', and I was a tad confused.

Eh, that'd work pretty good to show one was just an amateur gunman, but I don't see developers putting thought into that becase AAA titles are made to make money, and most people probably would rather just be able to shoot straight right from the get-go.

How is this suppose to be an argument against good games? Just because a good chef gets paid to cook doesn't mean his food will taste worse. You cry "uh mainstream sucks indie only" because "mainstream" games share many traits. What's wrong with building on the success of others. Look at your own game, KAG. We all love that game. You complain that many people compare it to other games- and that's because there are valid comparisons to be made. Tile breaking/building? That's certainly not an innovation. Multiplayer sidescrolling fighting? Not innovative. Medieval theme? Definitely not innovative at all. I don't mean this as a personal attack (as stated I love KAG) but it clearly borrows many elements from many other well known games. Which is what (in my opinion) makes it so good.

There are many innovative "mainstream" games. Thatgamecompany, a PS3 exclusive company, makes many great innovative games such as Fl0w and Flower. Modern Warfare completely changed the entire FPS genre with its innovations. Little Big Planet did brilliant things for the platforming genre. You can argue with me over how well Heavy Rain was executed, but you can't say it wasn't something different.

In fact I'd argue that mainstream games have as much if not more innovation than indie games. Most of the indie games I say are simply copies of retro games and everyone high-fives each other for being so hip. Mainstream games do borrow off other games, but at least they borrow off of advanced stuff.

We all get it don't start arguing and filling up the thread with indie vs mainstream ♥♥♥♥ if your gonna do that make your own thread this threads about Dead Island.
On topic:I think there should be more human NPC's helping I would love to lead a little survival group and as a zombie on multiplayer(if they do this) devour human NPC's. Also the C4 knifes weird maybe it ignites on impact and has a timed fuse like a 1 minute detonation from an electrical circuit in the C4 bomb? Idk I'm trying to make sense of the C4 bomb.

It really makes me wonder how you could get your hands on C4 in a holiday resort.
But other than that I like how you can make weapons.

From what I've heard, taking the developers' word for it, it's supposed to be a pretty extensive crafting system. And what I noticed from the To Kill Time video was there seemed to be quite a few attributes weapons had - I think I remember seeing a Diving Knife of Havoc, and then that bat had a couple attributes attached to it.

DAME: fyi your posts read like they were all made in one breath with several asides. Because of that, it's fairly difficult to understand what you're saying. Would it kill you to use some punctuation, maybe a few line breaks here and there? No? Thanks.

Barnox: that's still a worry because once the circuit is closed by the blood, the blade is going to heat up a lot and likely melt. Heck you can see this with small batteries, go outside, get a bit of wire and put it across the contacts with pliers.

Geti I type fast I will try my best to make it look neat :P .

On Topic: Does anyone have an Idea of why C4 is on the Island? I have no Idea how it's useful for Civs before the Outbreak.

It doesn't even matter, C4 requires detonators for it to explode - otherwise it just burns.

Well if the C4's there then there'd be detonators as well, so I guess it isn't that much of a stretch that they're timed and you activate the detonator as you throw the knife.

Yep. Also, on the subject of electric knives, I'd not say the blade would actually reach melting point in any small timeframe, as flesh is not particularly conductive, but after you've stabbed a couple of zeds, buildup of blood over the exposed wires would short-circuit the thing, unless you actually stopped every two seconds to wipe the blade clean- somewhat hazardous, considering it's connected to a car battery.

Also, there's the problem that, by itself, no common battery small enough to be efficiently concealed within the handle of a knife could generate enough current to stun someone, talk about electrocuting them to death. And no, don't come saying the guy's just carrying a car battery in his other hand, he throws the knife at a zombie and it electrocutes the poor thing all the same.

Hmm. However, there are other ways of generating enough current. Take a small camera, and the flash circuit could be used to generate a pulse of over four hundred volts. Except it'd require a few (read: five plus) capacitors to be able to deliver enough energy, and even then it'd take a full two minutes to charge up. And would need new batteries every five hits. Yeah.

Oh, and what? C4 is not something you buy at the chemist's, and detonators aren't easy to come by either. A spec ops team will only carry one or two for the odd wall breach, not a couple dozen to put on ninja knives and throw at people. And don't go thinking you can Macgyver a timed detonator with paperclips and a banana, it's just not going tp happen.

No no no, I'm not saying it isn't ridiculous. But the ridiculous part about it is that there's C4 on the island in the first place.

However, if there was C4 on the island for some reason, there'd be detonators there as well, probably.

I'm not sure why I'm justifying this.
It is incredibly silly.
