Trashlands & Dumpvalley
Just something I decided to do, mainly to figure out custom textures. It's a scene with layers of shipgib already in place. It uses Terraindebris to create some variety, but the results, uh, vary. CC really likes that single drophship gib. Added in a bigger scene. New clouds.

Re: Trashlands
That's a really creative use of TerrainDebris, I like it a lot. Custom background with more junk in it, grey sky maybe, would really improve this.
I'm not a huge fan of the impaled Coalition heads and Dummy torsos though.

Re: Trashlands
Simply awesome. And as pete said, a custom junkyard background would be awesome.

Re: Trashlands
Good job, I enjoy trekking around the mountains of gibs- but there isn't quite enough room.
Would a larger version be possible? (maybe one that has more vertical variance?)
Also the dip in the terrain is my favorite part.

Re: Trashlands
Awesome. A think some noticeable piles in the background would liven it up, though. Right now it's too basin-y for my liking.

Re: Trashlands
The cloud layer has pink dots on the edges of the clouds. :\ And I agree, there ought to be more trash heaps, instead of just a basin- You could make another background, and use that one for more of a valley scene, and the new one could be for mountains, maybe?

Re: Trashlands
What exactly do you mean by "more heaps"?
Heaps in the far off scenery? In-between? On the actual scene?
With the pallette CC has, it's hard to make a backdrop actually stand out as background and still retain its colors. I think it's already rather easy to lose track of stuff on the scene.
And I like it as an nigh-endless plateu of trash. It's a barren wasteland inhabited by something that likes impaling. Cough.

Re: Trashlands
In between, and if you want it to look like an endless plain of dead crap, I would suggest making it a liiiiitle bit convex, instead of just flat, in the far background. That doesn't mean take away the mountains, I am just saying that bending the line they sit on would make it look like more of a plain.

You can't make an uniformly convex continuous line. 2 dimensions don't work like that. It's also dependant on the client resolution and scene position of how much of the backdrop is shown. I used a goddamn perspective tool already. Perspective tool! Lemme know if the background is centered weird, I have a widescreen display that cant do 2x native resolutions right.
