What's this game about? I played for a bit and I didn't really understand.

It's a game about placing blocks and running away from skeletons.

Who plays games that are "about" anything anymore? O_o It's more fun if you get to fill that in yourself, no?

Playing games that are about nothing in particular can be satisfying, yes. You can make your own story, and play it how you want to play it.
But sometimes, being told a well crafted story, which is better than you could ever even think of, is more entertaining; at least to me.

To put it simply, the game is about moving around blocks while avoiding death. Good luck.

Oh yeah, story driven games can be awesome fun, I was just putting on an accusatory tone. At the moment I'm mostly preferring games with a fun context and (hopefully non-linear) gameplay with a lot of depth, even when the depth is just provided by a large variety of simple mechanics that can interact. Games like, Dwarf Fortress, Spelunky and Minecraft are fun to me for this reason, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy whipping out my gameboy colour or N64 and playing some zelda or whatever.

I've got an idea for a group project! I wanted to do it myself but it's a big job.
Basically, its a man-made floating island 100x100 blocks and 30 blocks high in a diamond shape. I have pictures so its easy to tell what I mean.





From left to right: Concept Side view from afar, Top-down view showing the the placement of the blocks, List of things to put on the island, extended list showing how the things merge into each other (so to appear 'natural') and final picture is a top-down showing the placement of the 'mini-biomes' if you will. The little rotating arrow in the centre is where the secret exit-entrance will be, like a spiral staircase down through the mountain or something.

Opinions? I think this would be an awesome thing to look back on and go:

Without inventory, things are kinda difficult. And without day/night and mobs, it gets pretty boring.

Are you sure everything will fit on a 100x100 diamond? I mean it kinda sucks to run out of room halfway there.
But I'll help you whenever I feel like being online.

That and Whitty is right: No mobs/inventory really takes a bit of fun out of the game.
