Not really in tune with the thread's title, but still better than making a new thread.
What songs do you listen to while working out? I started out with power metal, but it usually screws up my rhythm.

Re: favorite bands?
Kaizers Orchestra easily occupies the vast majority of my weekly auditory diet.
Dr. Steel's not a super great artist, but the idea has me entertained more often than not.
Fredric Chopin, like the Buckethead of piano, and was pretty much hacking out his lungs the whole time he was alive and kicking ass on his keys. I listen to him while dissecting things in my A&P class.
Dropkick Murphys (and other bits of Irish punk rock sprinkled into the play lists) Iron Maiden Jumbo's sound was fun for a while- even if I had no idea what any of the tracks were about. The Decemberists are delicious if you can get past the initial ear-pain from the vocals. Cage the Elephant's good. I'll admit that I never heard of them prior to Borderlands, though. Megadeth- always gotta crank the radio up when Megadeth is playing.

And then most of the rest of my music collection is comprised of a wide variety of unrelated individual songs. Mostly rock and metal. I tend to not get too interested in many particular bands, either because I begin to dislike the vocals after listening to a couple albums, or there's little continuity between their work because there are no vocals.

Re: favorite bands?
Anyone got any recommendations for someone who wants to be cool and indie but doesn't really like indie music? For a friend, of course. My friend has like about one or two songs each from DCFC, mewithoutYou, Jenny Lewis, the Brunettes, Deerhoof, The Postal Service (if they count), and Rilo Kiley. Something pleasant and melodic and that doesn't put too much of its greatness in crazy lyrics. Edit: Has anyone noticed that Screamo-Synthpop is a really big genre now? WTF, really. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rchK4aFi ... re=related

Re: favorite bands?
I've listened to a couple of Regina Spektor's songs and I didn't really like them. I really like "Girl Anachronism" by the Dresden Dolls, though. Recently, I've been listening to Robyn, Ellie Goulding, and Vanessa Carlton. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PDNRTCu ... re=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EO-E6Y0 ... re=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SM3fEJyPrrgEdit: ALafain, no one genuinely like NMH.
