 Re: Minecraft Up and Running
look up omen. sure would be cool to be whitelisted.
also weasel, sure would be nice to have some of that grassy dirt to propagate. i really do like the base maps as a starting point. they have a good depth to them, and its fun clearing areas to build on.

 Re: Minecraft Up and Running
Yeah the dimensions (esp. the Z axis) are the same as the default maps - you start right in the middle and can dig down pretty far AND build up. Here is an instructional slideshow on the dangers of lava. First you start with an innocent little river you dug from a single lava tile you found: Woops, the lava was 3 tiles above water level! Looks like we've got a magma-wave! When lava hits water it creates a stone block, effectively sealing the ocean under a layer of rock and onward it goes, blanketing the entire landscape: Of course, you can't swim down in lava and you can't see worth anything so it's definitely a bad idea to have lava + griefers on your map. Also: roger that, putting in some grass

OMEN is the best one I'm aware of... Btw, will there be room for suggestion maps in the future? I have a 512x512x128 here I made in world machine... I think it looks like this in Minecraft (I made two renders, not sure which is which), but all grass instead of heightcolored.

 Re: Minecraft Up and Running
512x512 are not fully compatible with all mChines. Additionally, a map of those dimensions tends to be bothersome to navigate. As grand poobah of New Thorleans, I reject that referendum.

 Re: Minecraft Up and Running
Allright, this variant has grass on one of the islands in a small patch. if anyone wants it you have to cultivate it and annoyingly carry it over to other places. But this is a tropical paradise! if you don't work hard for your grass you don't deserve it!
Also separated up two more panhandles into islands of their own and removed my screenshot tower.
e: 256x256x64 e2: Yep I'm using Omen. e3: file is server_level.dat renamed .zip just for phpbb. rename and it is good to go, do not unzip

Starting work on Lighthouse v2 right next to DuhMarina It's got a storage basement and two floors so far but the rest is unfinished. If anyone wants to give a hand setting it up it'd be appreciated!
