Post Mission: Front Line at Menou
Quote:
Dear General,

As you know, after the Dummies had attacked our newest recruit at the Training Complex, they were deemed hazardous, were removed from all training simulations and dumped in an extinct volcano in an area known as Menou.

After some time, reports of earth moving were heard from the Menou area, and soon after, we discovered that the Dummies were attempting to recreate their once home, the Tutorial Bunker. We could not let them do so.

Here is the current situation: We have sent a squad of Soldiers to Menou, but have had no contact since. We presume they have been Killed In Action.

Our only option now is to send the new recruit to Menou to disable the Dummies' Brain in place of our K.I.A. soldiers.

Regards,
Captain Sepoy

Here is my first scene and mission, The Front Line at Menou.
DOWNLOAD (Cheers Weegee!)

looks cool.
I know 2 ways of preventing boulders from being in a cave. 1 requires kinda tricky use of materials and takes forever to get working 100%, the other way is pretty easy.
Make bunker modules that are only backgrounds in the shape of your whole. If you want an example look at my temple cave map's crystals. The material file has dark purple even where there is nothing in the bg. That overrides the dirt/gold/boulders with emptiness.
damn, didn't get first post :/

@Aspect

Ok thanks. Working on the mission edit now

EDIT: it doesn't work. I made the FGs completely blank (pink colour) and ingame they come out white. The BG is the same as the FG (same file) and the mat is just the section of map i wanted boulder- and gold-free.

Help, and do you need my bmps?

hmm...
only thing I can think of is that the game requires something in the foreground or background part... I haven't had this problem so I can't really help you out. they are paletted correctly? That may be the problem...

nice, although it's very easy. just mine some gold at your spawn and buy soldiers.

Here's how I beat it

No, I made sure they were palleted correctly. And I dont know what to put in the foreground cos it would look weird against the dirt. hmmm...
Any ideas of what i can put in the FG? anad have you had a look at Menou.bmp.old?

It's not the starting funds that is an issue; it's the digger you come with. you just mine some gold with it and buy soldiers etc. Too easy!

Make make 2 more modes to this and name this one Menou (Easy)
Make a Menou (Medium) with a slightly larger base and more units spawning
and make a Menou (Hard) with a much larger base (almost the rest of the map) and MANY more units spawning

and just keep it as the same file so you wont have to recode the places or anything

(Basically after making the 3 missions just keep them as same name etc)
Though its your choice and it seems good as a direct 2nd mission nonetheless

You should remove the terrain debris from the scene's code and place gold/dirt piles that are available from tutorial. And the player would be left with those limited funds.

Excellent scene.

If you want the gold to not spawn in the caves, all you have to do is make bunker modules out of dirt. Gold and boulders don't get spawned inside bunker modules, and it'll overwrite anything that is already there. See my "Deep Caves" map.

Meh. If you want a Battle of Attrition, give the dummies more reinforcements and me money perodically, or at least more clones.
