So much to see. So much to do. So much to alter… Change, destroy, rearrange. The future is yours. Quite literally, in this case. Do what you want. Whatever you want. Whenever you want. Delve into the depths of time and space. Solve intergalactic crises. Uncover plots dating back to the beginning of the universe. Can you find the meaning in it all? Or will you content yourself with earthly power? You don’t have eternity, but you do have infinity.
So what is Infinity?
Infinity is an RTD adventure, similar to many of the others here. However, in the vein of Ethersphere, it is open-world. You can go (almost) anywhere, do (almost) anything, and work for (almost) anyone. Alien races of almost any type are viable as well. In addition, each character has the ability to time travel.
How do I join?
Simple. Just post in this thread and you will be added to the list. Characters should have the following stats:
Name: (Please, something reasonably pronouncable.) Year of origin: (Any year after 1900. In human years.) Planet of origin: (Once again, reasonably pronouncable.) Physical description: (Anything you want here. You should be around human-size.) Mental description: (Anything you want here.) Combat role: Weapons: (General types, not exact weaponry. Only two.) Active abilities: (Start with one, reasonably powered. I will be final judge on whether it will break the game.) Passive abilities: (Same as active abilities.) Inventory: (0/10)
A few rules and restrictions.
No paradoxes. No characters from before the year 1900. No time travel before 1900 unless you put skills into time travel. You can interfere in time only in doomed timelines. These will be explained later. However, you can observe regular time. Your character will live for 60.12 human years. Such is the price of time travel. D10. 1 - Total failure. You hurt yourself physically by failing so badly. 2 - Regular failure. You probably shouldn't try that again. 3 - Failure. Just move on, nothing much bad happens, but you do not succeed. 4 - Minor failure. You may get something done, but not much. 5 - Minor success. It goes off, but it may not do as well as you hoped. 6 - Success. You accomplish what needs to be done, and no more. 7 - Greater success. Your success has a bit of flair to it, and carries a boost. 8 - Excellent success. You get it done, and you do it with a few more boosts. 9 - Godlike success. Perfection is an understatement here. 10 or more - Too much success. You do too much, and get what you want, but something else goes wrong as well.
A pre-planned character, courtesy of TheKebbit:
Name: Polybiblios Year of origin: 3097 Planet of origin: Charybdis Physical description: A silent squid-like monstrosity transplanted from its native oceans into the confines of a hydrostatic suit of powered armor, the Polybiblite relies on overwhelming technical firepower and a thin coating of carbon-steel to keep it alive in the physics-warping and insanity-inducing death rattle of the end of a doomed timeline. Mental description: The Polybiblite's massive stores of subcortical memory give it a slow, grating method of thought that involves constant cross-referencing with brood-wisdoms, technical instructions and hermetic rituals. Motor functions and cognitive function are consistently split, allowing it to function independent of somatosensory input and, conversely, make an escape while unconscious. Combat role: Tinfoil ICBM Weapons: Wide-Beam Laser Small Caliber Autoguns Starting active ability: Bend Machine: pushes all mechanical components to their absolute breaking point with an output of mental force, either inducing a last-ditch surge in firepower or a crippling defect in enemy gear. Medium-high probability of backfiring. Starting passive ability: Eideticism: retains vast quantities of information without conscious processing, adding +1 to rolls on learning other passives.
Characters: 6/6 TheKebbit - Polybiblios Miggles - James Sander maart3n - Thyr "The Minotaur" Solyph Foa - Lani Mon Nonsequitorian - Benford Barnes caekdaemon - Robert Reeves

Re: Infinity: An Open-World RtD Adventure
I will vouch herein for BearsofInsanity's competence in RTD operations, dedication, and ability to forge a creative plotline. Some of you veterans around here might be scared off by the mere prospect of time travel, but I urge you to sign the ♥♥♥♥ up anyway.
Having worked with him previously and met him IRL, I can say Bears is a pretty cool dude and that he's got the potential to contribute a lot in this subforum.

Re: Infinity: An Open-World RtD Adventure
Name: James Sander Year of origin: 1905 Planet of origin: Earth Physical description: A tall, handsome, bearded man with brown hair and eyes. His stubbly beard extends from his short hair. His attire comprises of tall boots, jean slacks, a sturdy leather belt a hard-worn white shirt with red suspenders, a leather vest and ammunition belt, a thin, slightly ripped red poncho, and a wide brimmed, dark reddish-brown hat. Essentially, a cowboy in his prime, out of his time. Mental description: James Sander is a complex man. Though he is a master with a gun, he avoids conflict despite his rugged appearance. A man of honor and pride, but also a hint of control, he will only fight if he needs to or if the other party insists. (In the case of a duel, for instance.) Or, of course, if he is angry, which is not as unoften ad you might think.. Not overly social, or socially outcast either, he is a dignified and recognizable character, but he keeps to himself, typically only talking to those that talk to him or about him. Respected amongst his townsfolk, who, like he, are residents one of the very few "cowboy" towns left. He spends much of his time in the saloon, as any self respecting vigilante does. He is thought of as an ominous figure by his fellow townspeople, and very few people know much about him. He is often seemingly too muddled in his own issues to pay attention to others and will space out while by himself. Combat role: Badass Cowboy Weapons: Revolvers, rifles, and knives. Active abilities: Steady aim: Able to not only shoot quite accurately, but also very quickly in a bullet time fashion. Passive abilities: 25% discount on weapon slots. Inventory: (0/10)
Edited.

Re: Infinity: An Open-World RtD Adventure
Sorry, I forgot to say: only two weapons. I will give you the exact weapons when you enter the game.
Given your retro time, I have decided to let you start with three weapons. Should you decide you want more, you can buy them with ability points. If you want, you can replace your current passive ability with a 25% discount on all weapon slots.
Your active should be an useable power. For example, you could turn this power into, say, bullet time, taking two shots instead of one once per battle. Or maybe a sure shot ability, always hitting.

Re: Infinity: An Open-World RtD Adventure
of course I'm signing up!
name: Thyr "the minotaur" Solyph year of origin: 2314 planet of origin: Talos IX physical description: As his nickname suggests he resembles the minotaurs of Greek mythology, tall and beast like with two horns growing from the side off their heads. Although not spectacularly large or muscular for his kind, being just over two meters tall and weighing a meager 150 kilograms. He dresses in casual business wear or a brown leather coat. mental description: Talosians are usually known as primitive brutes with a tendency to go berserk at the slightest provocation. This is were Thyr makes up for his rather unimpressive size, with intellect and cunning. Using his for human standards impressive body and tact to intimidate or lie his way out of any situation he quickly established himself as an excellent hired gun. combat role: Brute weapons: big bore shotgun, axe active ability: Execute, horribly murders an enemy, instantly lowering the morale of those around. passive ability: intimidating figure, +1 to"political interaction".

Re: Infinity: An Open-World RtD Adventure
Edited. The active ability is supposed to be a usable thing, and it actually is supposed to be bullet time, but I didn't specify that I guess. Kind of like dead eye or vats from RDR/Fallout respectively.
Name: Lani Mon Year of origin: 2288/2888 Planet of origin: Earth [Noitu Love 2] Physical description: A wiry, blue-clad Peace Keeper. She has distinctly dull eyes, and sports orange-blonde wavy hair down to her shoulders. Mental description: She general is lackluster, and often speaks in rambling sentences, or plaintive questions. In short she gets queasy easily from anemia, and takes the passive position often times. Underneath it she seems potent. Combat role: Sleeper Brakeman Weapons: Chain [Rope Dart if using Bayonet, Whip if Handle, Meteor if Weight] , Bayonet [2 Foot Staff if there's nothing to Attach it to] Active abilities: Combolt: More or less Pulse Abilities. [Ballistic Charging/Projectiles] Passive abilities: Steady Feat: +1 To Mobility/Coarse Dexterity Inventory: (0/10)
Chain and a Bayonet, in General. A Bayonet is more or less a Knife you attach to things: Guns/Sticks/Probably not Chains. A Chain is used in multiple kinds of things: Chain Whips [needs handle, maybe a small weight]; Meteor [You know that Asian Chick from Kill Bill, the Metal Ball on the end of a Chain]; Rope Dart [A reasonably pointy thing on the end of a Chain]
The chain in mind is too long to make any reasonable form of flail, mace, or garrote. [The Garrote is questionable considering length] Grappling hooks are silly, and Kusira Gamas be damned.
Also, it isn't suppose to be feet, it's feat. A prerequisite of dynamic weapons is some form of dexterity.
Anyways, you have guns, lasers, and straight on utility; I'm going to do what I did in RTD Blue, and hopefully not screw up like I did, THAT time.
. . .
Blue, and Fionna, your asses are MINE
