The geometrically impossible architecture of the room makes it look more like an eldritch Escher drawing than anything conceivable by a human mind. "It's not your fault," one of the figures says. Like the Agent, the speaker has a very humanoid appearance, resembling a tall man with long auburn hair and strikingly scarlet eyes, with black slits for pupils. He is clothed in a glowing white robe. "Our intelligence was obviously insufficient- there's no way Absalom could have turned that seraph, and I doubt it was working with him of its own accord. Something's against us, here. We still haven't had any luck tracking Absalom down; somehow, none of his teleportations have left a traceable amount of ethereal residue. It is as if he is generating ether instead of drawing it from the ethersphere..."
"If that's true, I don't think I need to tell anyone here what kind of a danger that poses," a second figure says. The speaker appears to be more like a condensed mass of dark smoke than any sort of identifiable shape, purple-blue in color with two glowing yellow "eyes" near the top of its mass, and speaks with a rather feminine voice. "An inexperienced and small-scale fighter like Absalom wouldn't be able to use such a thing to its full potential. In the hands of an experienced fighter like, heaven forbid, Sin... we wouldn't fare well, to say the least."
"Stopping Absalom and finding out what he's done is our top concern, then." The third speaker is humanoid but muscular and huge, with a green-scaled hide and the intimidating face of some primordial beast. "Generating ether... it's a direct violation of the conservation of energy! There's no way something like that could be pulled off without having a negative effect somewhere."
"I'll get back to the search effort, then."
"No, hang on, Agent." The last speaker stands up and moves forward- a man of about six feet with dark hair and eyes. His face appears young, yet it is clear that time has made its mark on it. "I'll go. Something big's happening, and we have to eliminate this threat as soon as possible. You still haven't even fully recovered from your last fight- stay here and rest up."
"You're one to talk. You were pretty roughed up a week ago after your fight with that Wrath bastard."
"True, but I'm still stronger than any single individual here. We can't all go, so..." The eyes of the second figure narrow at the man before closing in resignation.
"Fine. Don't get yourself killed in one of your acts of silly valiance, though. If this is half as serious as we fear, there's plenty of fighting ahead." The man smiles in response.
"I'm touched by your concern, but don't worry..." With a burst of light, the man is enveloped in a golden aura that covers his entire body, obscuring his face and radiating a glowing energy. A pair of large glowing wings materialize, attached to his shoulder blades. He flicks his wrist and his hand closes around the hilt of a summoned greatsword, its gold-and-silver blade glinting as the man slashes the air with it and creates a portal.
