You walk to the crate and lift the cover off and feel the inside of it. Your hand hits something that feels like a wooden stick and pull it out. After a bit of fumbling with the object, you tug a string on and and the top lights into a fire.

With your new light source, you quickly scan the area for anything bug-like. Your heart skips a beat when you see a dark green metallic carapace... And it doesn't seem to be moving. There's also a piece of paper tied to the thing with some pieces of rope.

A quick look at the crate reveals it has 4 more torches in it and a pickaxe.

As you step inside, you see a large table with a map on it with other soldiers seated around and talking. A man at the end of the table with a shaved head and dark brown eyes stands up to greet you:

"Ah, welcome! You're the new guy, eh? Charles! Put 'em through the training with the others. I'd love to do the formal introductions but we've got way too many things on our hands right now."
"Yes sir!"

The man who greets you sits back down and one of the soldiers who brought you to the tent leads you out.

"That was General Erlyn. He's usually a lot more welcoming, but we've been busy fighting off waves of tribesmen and time isn't something we can afford to waste."

After a bit of more walking, you come to the edge of the camp with various wooden obstacle courses and a large, worn circular trail.

"Alright recruit, start running! We don't have any sort of calvery around here, so you gotta travel usin' your legs! Hop to it!"

You take the path that leads to the "right." You find another elevator box, this one that goes down. Inside is a lever, and a wheel with a ratchet on it.

Stepping into the box, you start turning the wheel and slowly descend. It seems that the miners were more concerned about getting up quickly than going down. After several minutes of vertical travel, the elevator hits the ground with a thud.

With the torchlight, you see a long hallway with other hallways connected to the left side. A shuffle is heard in the darkness ahead...
