If a cat and an eldritch abomination can cause speech, then I think we'll be fine with a game abstraction and something else. Quick, throw something silly in.

Bomb was the silliest, and most practical, thing I could think of. Everything else has an immediate or non-obvious use. And dowel/grist is just boring.

If by some event I did not recieve my bomb, even though I did pick it up earlier, go through the portal again and remake the bomb, then return and toss it at the imp group.
