One of Six
You awaken from your slumber lying upon a bed of leaves. Birds chirp innocently in the tree canopy.
You don't remember how you got here, but what you do have is a message.
Rules:
Basic information:
Players will PM me their actions. When everyone's actions are in, I will roll. Players will only get their roll back.
When a player dies, all of their rolls will be posted. If there is a winner at the end, their rolls will be posted as well.
I will roll a twelve sided dice. This means results will be between one and twelve.
1-3 is a Failure. 4-9 is a Moderate Success. 10-12 is a Complete Success.
1 is always a Failure, 12 is always a Complete Success, regardless of modifiers.
Actions and roll modifiers:
Actions vary in difficulty, and will cause the initial roll to be modified.
For example, trying to climb a barbed wire fence may give you a -3 because of the difficulty. However, trying to jump across the grand canyon would net you a -10 penality.
However, some actions are easier than others. For example, attacking an enemy from behind may get you a +3 bonus, while simply trying to walk will allow you a +10 bonus.
How you word your action is very important. If you say you want to climb a barbed wire fence, you may only get a -3 penalty. But, if you want to climb unharmed, it might become even harder - but you won't take any damage in the case of a success.
Penalties are not uncommon, and you will not be told what penalty you will get for taking a certain action. It's up to your own judgement to decide whether taking an action is wise. Only the first submitted action will be accepted.
Though only one act is permitted per an action, sometimes they may contain multiple elements. If different parts of an action would utilize different stats to determine their outcome, the original roll is used for all of them.
Characters, stats, and you!
Each character has their own abilities to allow them to overcome penalties, or gain even greater bonuses.
Strength - Your physical prowess in moving other objects. (Swinging weapons, lifting objects, etc.) Finesse - Your ability to move yourself. (Running, sneaking, firing arrows, etc.)
Intellect - How skilled you are in outwitting your opponents. (Setting traps, creating items, etc.) Charisma - How influential you are to others, and how observant/confident you are. (Spotting traps, convincing others to help you, resisting magic, etc.)
Lunacy - Allows you to ignore roll penalties, and potentially cast magic. (One point means one point of penalty ignored. This does not include penalties applied for having low stats.)
Similar statistics, like Strength and Finesse, can sometimes both factor into an action, in which case the bonus is averaged.
Your statistics do not change after character creation, except for Lunacy. Lunacy increases by one for every person you kill, and cannot go below zero.
Side note: Magic! Wo0o0o0o0o!
Lunacy allows you to cast magic, but magic can be very difficult to perform. If you only have a point or two in Lunacy, the best you can hope to do is magically start fires.
If you want something impressive, like throwing huge fireballs or full-scale telekinesis, you're going to need at least four or five points to negate the penalty you get on the roll.
That said, even though this is a little bit of a realistic game, magic can do anything. The penalty given is determined by the roller based on guesstimated difficulty, but beyond that your only limits are your imagination.
Magic casting uses Intellect for its bonus, but the bonus applied can't go above your Lunacy stat. This means that even if your Intellect bonus is +5, if your Lunacy is only 1 then you only get +1 to magic.
Penalties applied because of having a low Intellect stat are not capped at all, meaning a very stupid character will probably never be able to cast any magic.
Time limits?
The game has a time limit. Time is measured in rolls. 24 rolls is considered a day. After 72 rolls, the game will be over.
If more than one player is alive at the end of the game, everyone loses. If there is a final survivor, they officially win the game.
Character Creation:
Give your name, your age, and a basic description of your character. You also have to give your character's statistics. Each character also receives a "gift", which is basically any item that you could go outside and buy right now. This includes items like a pistol and bullets, a bow and arrow, food, a first aid kit, etc.
Every stat, except for Lunacy (Each point in Lunacy costs four points), uses this table for cost.

All of your stats start at zero, and you start with six points.
You can spend your points to make a stat higher, or gain points by lowering your stats. If you go to a number on the table and look at the cost below it, that's what you get if you choose the number for a stat.
For your character to be valid, it cannot have negative points.

When you complete your character, PM it to me, do not post it. If you post your character, it won't be allowed to be used in the game.
