XCOM: Enemy Unknown (Firaxis Remake)
The new XCOM's out, guys! Updated graphics and mechanics, a single base, streamlined inventory management, and smaller squads of XCOM soldiers. I still think it's pretty darn enjoyable. I've gotten about 3 months in on Classic with Ironman mode enabled (preventing me from save-scumming). My memorial already has about 40-50 names on it, including a few sergeants and lieutenants. I named one of the living lieutenants 'Nutcase' after he panicked repeatedly during a mission as a squaddie and somehow shot dead 2 weakened Mutons with his pistol. I know the short demo might've turned some people away from it, but honestly, the full game offers so much more.

I felt it was worth it, personally. Spent my entire sick day playing so far.

I've never played an X-COM game. I hear there was a demo, should I try it out?

The demo isn't worth your time. It's about an hour of scripted action.

Well it's the only way I can experience the game without pirating it so should I try it or not?

note: getting the originals without ever having played them before has at least a 50% chance of making you hate xcom forever
this is a fact and anyone who says otherwise is blinded by their nostalgia goggles

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown (Firaxis Remake)
I make a habit of giving all of my rookies the same helmet (which is always blue when you select it at first, to help donate rookie-ness) and default armour colour. Then, I rename them to "Meat" "#" with the "#" being whatever number of rookies I've had so far, I think I'm on Meat 16 now. Once they rank up they get to look forward to being renamed things like: Joe Hairyballs(a girl) Burly McMan(also a girl) 'Murica McFreedom. I'm so mature..=
