So today I got on my computer and started up CC to kill some folk, when all of a sudden, before the loading screen can pop up, I get this error message:

I haven't installed any mods in a while and I tried uninstalling it then reinstalling it, I tried to make an entirely new CC file, unregister this copy, then register a new copy. I tried just about everything, but CC still won't start and I get that error message every time.

Thanks for your help!

PS: I have Build 23.

Your Settings.ini exploded.
Write down your registration details, then open up Settings.ini in notepad, delete everything and paste everything in the attached .txt into it. Enter your registration details into the appropriate lines then close and save.
To avoid this in future, keep backups of Settings.ini, it's pretty much the main vital part of the game that mods can screw up.

Has anyone figured out what mods caused this and why? This is a problem that has plagued many users.

TLB discovered that one of the causes was setting volume to decimal values, so unsupported values are one cause.

Well I did install the anti-air rocket a while ago and hadn't tried it until then, so that might be a problem.

Wait.... I CAN MAKE IT SO IT DOESN'T PLAY THE INTRO!?!?!!?!?!

*edit* So I just erase everything in my Settings.ini then paste everything from your file into mine then in LastEmail and LastKey I put my info? And is there really any assured way to not get my CC annihilated every other time I install a mod?

*edit2* Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it doesn't work... Same error message as last time.

If you reinstall, do it in a separate place; sometimes reinstalling over the same place doesn't work to fix the problem..

Does anybody know where I can get another installer?

Terribly sorry to use your thread, but this same thing is happening to me, but instead of line 1, it's a problem on line 184. And I've re-installed in three places, still nothing.
Any help?

Is that error about Settings, or another .ini?

Did you try to do what the solution poster posted?
