Okay, so, having recently acquired a job, I intend to build myself a computer. I intend to build it over a few months since I'm trying to get a fairly high end setup. I hope to build it around this, and I have a couple other ideas, but they're mostly pretty flexible, so tell me about any hardware you'd recommend.

get an SSD. doesn't (really) matter which one, or how much capacity it has, as long as there's enough for your OS, one or two games, and any major software you want to use.

an SSD is going to offer the greatest boost in performance over any previous computer you've ever had. all other improvements are going to be in only one area or hard to notice; an SSD will make virtually everything you do a better, faster experience.

note: you will probably want an SSD and a standard HDD (in fact, I'd highly recommend this), but it's ultimately up to you

Or, you know, a hybrid drive if you've got some cash to burn.

Or RAID.
