Plans for an IRC?
aka a forum instamessaging chat room? Its pretty fun, can reduce some clutter in Off-topic sub forum, and a good place to learn more about the devs and moderators if they hang around there often.

Re: Plans for an IRC?
There actually is one already. I THINK it's #drlchat on irc.rizon.net, unless I'm totally mistaken. There are also a couple non-DRL affiliated channels that some groups of forumites use, but those aren't at all official or anything.

Re: Plans for an IRC?
If there was a link to an IRC in the forums that made it official/more legit, that would be cool (and a bit easier to get to)

Re: Plans for an IRC?
There used to be one, and then it died or went to hell or both, I don't really know/remember.

Re: Plans for an IRC?
Basically we didn't have enough IRC mods to moderate it 24/7, so it kinda fell into anarchy. Shenanigans happened as well, leading to some mods being locked out of the channel (iirc), so Data decided to just can it.
This is also why it never reappeared, moderation problems.

Re: Plans for an IRC?
If Andy offers himself to be a moderator on it and to be 24/7 online, would it be back?

As that is nearly physically impossible, speculation is probably unnecessary.

Re: Plans for an IRC?
Oh gawsh, so there has to be at least one moderator on it at all times? No wonder there was chaos. If there were two guys who could volunteer, like one guy from UK and one from Australia, it might work comfortably kinda but I see why there probably isn't going to be one.
I used to be part of a smaller forum and they didn't have problems with people being rude, and the dev was always online 20/7 so yah.

Re: Plans for an IRC?
The problem with having an official IRC channel is that we are very not official once we actually have one.
It's an image thing, for the whole website.
