Re: Coalition Base #836-AOC - B23
oh my ♥♥♥♥ god this is ridiculous
I have to say, trying to get the shitty ragdoll out of the goddamn tiny vents and to the exit point was possibly the least pleasant thing I've ever played. And could you have chosen a worse ♥♥♥♥ place to make them all stand? Guess who fell into the hole? EVERYONE. Guess what I could do to get them out? NOTHING, because you wouldn't let me select them to jetpack the hell out.
EDIT: To be fair, the level itself was innovative and well-executed, but that part is just ridiculous arrrrgh

Oh man, I suck b@lls!
Mabey it's hard for to play because Cortex Command is the sucking of b@lls at tight spaces. Hell's your problem, anyway? I don't even know you, and I've never seen you before, but apparently I've commited a cardinal sin by uh, disagreeing with you?

It's easier if you have no equipped weapon and manipulate the head so that it isn't dragging across the vent ceiling. Occasionally jet packing when stuck helps too, sometimes.

OMFG SQUEEGY L2P

Still one of the best missions for Cortex Command: Just the right level of difficulty to be possible but challenging.
Shame WHFF is dead.

I had no weapon! Every time I jetpacked I spun out, and I kept getting my damn spiky hair stuck on the vents.

Don't use jetpack unless you're stuck, as I said. Look downwards-ish at all times and when you get stuck tap left and right, move the head around by aiming around and tap jetpack whilst aiming downwards in order to directionalise it forwards a bit more.

Yeah Squeegy, I know the feeling. First time I made it through the base, I tried to go through the right most tunnel, the damn thing caved in and the base blew up. Hated that part. AND THE TUNNELS! I could never climb up them, but going sideways in them, I had no prob. Just wish Banana made the jetpacks go a bit longer with his LUA king prowess.

You don't need Lua to modify jet pack burst duration; it's a variable in the actor's code. What I do is fight my way up to the top, use the shovel to dig my way up, mine the gold in the pit, and order a better weapon. Then, just dig a hole to the reactor room, and then blow it up! The bad thing is that you can't respawn with that gun...

I'll be the first to admit that I've been playing this game for a long time, and that probably skews my definition of difficulty a fair amount. Personally, I find that crawling through the vents isn't that bad, but I have noticed that on slower computer it's really annoying. Unfortunately, it's a fairly integral part of the mission at this point, and I'm not really willing to redo it all because of that. It is something I'll keep in mind for next time I work on a mission, though, and it's definitely not the kind of thing that's going to show up in vanilla campaign missions.

The first time I played this mission, back when I had only played CC for less than a month, I managed to get back through the vents with more than a minute to spare.
