Tutorial For Total Newbs!
A tutorial for those who have never modded cortex command before, but would like to!LINKthis tutorial will take you from setting up the files for your mod, to creating a neat .ini system and your first weapon! feedback is appreciated as always, although this is a tutorial for new people to make it easier so im not going into any complicated topics, i would be happy to go into more depth if it is requested

Re: Tutorial For Total Newbs!
looked thru the tutorial and was happy to see that it was very basic. Just a couple things: • Should go more in depth about file types and where everything goes inside the .rte. • talk about mod release etiquette and how first mods should be released in the Minor Mod Dump to prevent unnecessary flamings. • Spriting programs like Pixen, MSPaint, and even Photoshop should be included. Overall,

Re: Tutorial For Total Newbs!
thanks! ~added a section on the file types used by cortex command (second to last page in depth enough for the newb) ~added a release etiquette section on the last page, with what types of mods to put in the minor mod dump, and a little info on the requests section (not sure whether i did this right) ~i have added a referance to the other spriting programs and a link to the page where you can find the pallete for photoshop

Regareding the spriting topic, I reccomand graphicsgale, because it keeps the palette on the side even if you don't have all colors on-screen.

This is a Well done tutorial but....
Why the heck does my Guns don´t show up in the buy menu?!
I checked Everything, the .ini files are right and everything is edited to work.... No crashes no nothing.

Re: Tutorial For Total Newbs!
You have to change the preset names, Gun Template of w.e overwrites a earlier loaded Gun Template.
Also why don't you ever upload into the server itself?

No crashes no nothing. fixed this really should have checked if there was already a weapon called desert eagle, but hey the last stages of creating this tutorial were a bit rushed! now all referances in both the files and the tutorial have been changed to "Deagle" if you go into the mod file you created and change the name of the weapon, below "HDFirearm" change the preset name to "Deagle" or something like this, and it should load fine, just a stupid mistake on my half, sorry! dragonxp wrote: Also why don't you ever upload into the server itself? If you mean why i never upload anything into this forum, its because i like to keep everything in one place, and i like the functions which mod db has. If you like i could make a topic with the tutorial within it, for this forum.

Re: Tutorial For Total Newbs!
im really happy you say this ~~~~~~~ also would like to mention if you do this tutorial and are having trouble just message me on this forum, (or mod db if you prefer). i really dont mind helping you! way i see it, the more modders and community this game gets, the more people are gonna buy it! the faster data is going to be motivated to work faster to bring out better versions!

Re: Tutorial For Total Newbs!
a new section added, trying to teach a basic understanding of errors and reasons your mod wont load also extended the section on weapon variables slightly
